A Trip North in Icy Winter – Philanthropy, Investment, Development
On Nov. 24, 2015, the chairwoman of Yihai Group, Linda Wong took a trip north to Ha’erbin with Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, attending a three-day event of Oversea Philanthropists in Ha’erbin. She, along with Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, oversaw the development of economy in Heilongjiang and attended philanthropy events.
During the night of Nov. 24, Chairwoman Wong attended a meeting with the secretary of the provincial party committee, Kuixian Wang and governor of Heilongjiang province, Hao Lu. Mr. Lu briefed the group with the economic conditions and further pointed out that given “One Road One Belt Initiative” of China, Heilongjiang, being one of the bordering largest province, has great prospective with Russia. Considering domestic demand and advantages of Heilongjiang, it is advantageous to cooperate in the areas of high-quality food, environmental senior tourism and human resource investment.
The Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Yuanping Qiu, was excited after hearing the briefing, saying he understands the potentials of Heilongjiang and was positive about its future development. Overseas Chinese Affairs Office should employ the resources and enthusiasm of foreign Chinese and foreign citizens of Chinese origin to contribute in the process of development.
In the morning of Nov. 25, Chairwoman Wong and the group of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office visited Yihai Kerry Food Processing Company, attended a meeting with the company and learned about high-quality food producing and processing.
In the afternoon of Nov.25, Chairwoman Wong and the group visited Volga Manor, a Russian-themed garden in Ha’erbin. Later, they visited Sunny Island, a point of tourist interest and Ice Artistic Museum.
Camaraderie between Yihai and Heilongjiang
Chairwoman Wong was warmly welcomed by with the secretary of the provincial party committee, Kuixian Wang and governor of Heilongjiang province, Hao Lu. Yihai Group and Ha’erbin have long-lasting camaraderie and their cooperation has been successful. Yihai has been contributing to the development of Heilongjiang.
In 2013, Ms. Wong founded Yihai Chinese Oversea Hospital in Hulin City Heilongjiang Province, which was the first Hospital founded by Chinese oversea citizens.
In early November 2015, Ms. Wong and the vice mayor of Ha’erbin visited Serbia together and they helped Ha’erbin and Serbian city Uzice established cooperative relationship, which will bring Ha’erbin more opportunities in the future.
In A Trip North in Icy Winter, Ms. Wong and the group visited companies founded by foreign Chinese capital and learned about the development of Heilongjiang, while seeking more cooperation opportunities with Heilongjiang. Ms. Wong is devoted to philanthropic events in Heilongjiang, paying close attention to donations for schooling, investment and attending a series of philanthropic events.
